Popular publicans Peter and Dorothy Hadcroft are keeping things in the family as they prepare to call time on 21 years at The Bell in Grove.
They are handing over the business to daughter Tanya, who has worked as their barmaid for the past ten years.
And in a remarkable role reversal, landlady Dorothy has agreed to become barmaid.
Tanya, 29, and her husband, Mervyn Dyer, 33, take over as hosts this autumn. To mark the event, the Hadcrofts are planning a triple celebration later this month, with a party to mark their 21 years at The Bell, their retirement as licensees, and Peter's 59th birthday.
The couple came to Grove in 1977 after nine months as relief landlords at a pub in Winchester.
They liked it so much, they not only stayed, but are now both parish councillors.
They have bought a house in the village and plan to continue their community work.
Mr Hadcroft said: "We've loved this place, both the village and the pub."
