Police are winding down their investigation into the stabbing of a Russian girl in Oxford.
The decision follows the death of a teenager whilst on remand in Reading Prison. Justin McCabe, 18, of Jasmin Close, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, hanged himself with his shoe laces.
He had been charged with aggravated burglary and accused of stabbing 63-year-old Terry Brown during an alleged robbery at the victim's home in Cowley Road, Oxford.
McCabe was also being questioned by police in connection with the stabbing of the 15-year-old girl at Headington a week ago.
Officers had launched a thorough investigation and set up a mobile unit near the scene of the crime in Headington Road outside South Park.
The teenager, part of a group of students on an English course linked to Oxford Brookes University, was returning from a meal in the city when the attack happened.
A man ran up behind her, grabbed her rucksack and stabbed her in the stomach. Police said today they were not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."
McCabe was remanded in custody after appearing before Oxford Magistrates Court last Friday.
He is the second Oxfordshire teenager to have hanged himself while in custody in the last five months.
In March, Ben Mills, 18, from Thame, was found hanged in his cell in Reading Young Offenders Institute after he was found guilty of theft and was awaiting sentence.
