Police are hunting two men after a vicious stabbing under an Oxford railway bridge.
The pair attacked their victim, a man in his mid-20s, just after 1pm yesterday.
He is now being treated for a serious stab wound to the stomach at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. His name has not been released.
After the attack off Minchery Road, not far from Oxford United's new football stadium, the two men fled.
A local resident phoned police and a search was launched, including the police helicopter.
Spokesman Bob Gray said: "A member of the public phoned to say that a man had been stabbed in the stomach.
"Two men were seen running off in the direction of nearby allotments but they could not be found.
"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or can provide us with any information."
Minchery Road resident Les Wells said: "The whole area was swarming with police. I didn't see what happened but I heard this bloke got stabbed underneath the railway bridge.
"I've been here three years and nothing this serious has happened before."
