JOEY Beauchamp was fit enough to be included in Oxford United's 17-man squad for today's Division 1 game at Crystal Palace, despite twisting his ankle in training this week.
However, with assistant manager Mark Harrison admitting that he and boss Malcolm Shotton were looking at which individuals were currently suffering from a loss of form, it's by no means a certainty that Beauchamp will start at Selhurst Park.
Others in danger of losing their place following the midweek Worthington Cup defeat by second division Luton, when Shotton branded his team "a disgrace", are striker Andy Thomson, midfielder Nicky Banger and defenders Phil Whelan and Simon Marsh, and midfielder Nicky Banger.
It was Whelan's first senior game since breaking his leg and he would be expected to drop down if Steve Davis has recovered from the Achilles injury which forced him to miss the cup clash.
Marsh's place is threatened by Paul Powell while Christophe Remy and Danny Hill could come in for their first starts of the season after impressing for the reserves.
Hill, a summer free transfer signing from Tottenham, came on as a second-half sub against Luton.
Asked about Remy, Shotton said: "He deserves his place in the squad."
United have never won at Crystal Palace, though they did force a 2-2 draw in their last appearance there.
United squad: Whitehead, Marsh, Powell, Robinson, Gilchrist, Whelan, Davis, Remy, Hill, Smith, Gray, Windass, Murphy, Thomson, Beauchamp, Banger, Weatherstone.
