BOSSES at an Oxford hi-tech interactive publisher have now become the company's new owners following a successful management buy-out.

Attica Interactive, which produces a range of CD-Rom titles including the Ordnance Survey interactive Atlas of Great Britain, has been bought from Interactive Holdings for an undisclosed sum.

In 1997 the company, operating from offices at Angel Court, St Clements, where it employs 12 people, became one of the few multimedia firms in Britain to show a healthy profit, achieved on a turnover of almost £2m.

Managing director Hugh Simmons said: "Now, with new opportunities emerging, I am pleased to be leading Attica and the team towards even greater success."

The management team believes that the growth of TV channels and other platforms for delivering information, such as Interactive Television and the Internet, spells a bright future.

Now the company is looking for new investment. It has good working relations with on-line service providers and broadcasters including the BBC, EMI, De Agostini and The Learning Company.

Attica intends to continue producing specialist multimedia CD-Rom and on-linefamily products including education, reference and games. Titles in the range now include Wannabe a Pop Star, Interactive First Aid, and Jack Charlton's Soccer Nation.

The firm also plans to expand further into electronic entertainment while maintaining its core business in publishing information.
