One of Carterton's oldest shops is being brought into the 21st century.
The Oxford and Swindon Co-op is investing more than £5m on a redevelopment of its supermarket in Black Bourton Road.
The new store will be more than twice the size of the current one, which will be demolished to create parking spaces.
Property and development manager Richard Holmes said: "We have a long history in the town, dating back to 1912, when Carterton was a very small place.
"The new store recognises our commitment to the town which is growing all the time. It is also an innovative design which will add something to the town."
Builders Costain Construction are about a third of the way into the redevelopment.
The store is due to open at the end of November, in time for Christmas shopping, and will have 20,000sq ft of shopping floorspace.
Carterton is one of just a handful of towns benefiting from the Co-op's investment in new stores - others are being planned for Newent in Gloucestershire and Highworth, near Swindon.
