The mysterious appearance of two African wood carvings in countryside near Witney is baffling police.
The dark wood carvings, both more than 4ft tall, were handed in by separate members of the public after one was found in a ditch and the other in a field near Cogges.
Officers are anxious to return the carvings - one depicting tribal masks and the other a woman carrying a child - but have no such items listed as stolen.
The carvings are being kept at Witney Police Station while efforts are made to trace the owners. If they are not claimed soon they could auctioned.
Phone police on 01993 703913 if you can help.
