Novelist Margaret Potter, the daughter of one writer and wife of another, has died aged 72.
Mrs Potter, of Larkins Lane, Old Headington, Oxford, wrote under her own name and three pseudonyms - Anne Melville, Margaret Newman and Anne Bette- ridge.
She was the eldest daughter of author Bernard Newman. Her husband Jeremy Potter, who spearheaded the campaign to reopen the Oxford Playhouse, died aged 75 last year. She wrote more than 50 novels and many short stories for collections and magazines.
Her last book, Debutante Daughters by Anne Melville, will be published next year.
