A motorcyclist landed himself in court after being clocked doing 127mph - more than twice the legal speed limit.
Thomas Morgan, 32, of Beech Road, Witney, was on his way to Sturdy's Castle, a popular meeting point for bikers, when he was photographed on the A4095 Shipton-on-Cherwell to Thrupp road on May 18. Morgan pleaded guilty to exceeding the 60mph speed limit on a single carriageway when he appeared before the town's magistrates yesterday.
Martin Foreman, prosecuting, told magistrates that Morgan was travelling on his own during a fine summer's evening when he was photographed by the speed camera.
Julian Smith, defending, told the court it was "a moment of stupidity". He said: "He did not realise how fast he was going, which was well above the speed limit."
Mr Smith added that his client had now sold his motorbike.
"He was not just riding at an excessive speed but he was extremely irresponsible. This matter is perceived to be totally out of character," he said.
Morgan was banned for three months and was fined £300. He was ordered to pay £35 costs.
