BANBURY'S discus medal hope Perriss Wilkins finished seventh behind gold medallist and England teammate Bob Weir at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.
Marius Hardiman, a member of Morris Motors weightllifting club and representing Wales, finished sixth in the combined category in the 77kg class. Hardiman was a further place down the listings in the snatch standings.
There was better news of another competitor from Oxford, but this time representing India as Roopa Unnikrishnan scooped gold in the ladies prone smallbore rifle target event.
The City of Oxford shooter and Rhodes Scholar at Balliol College scored 590 out of 600 to set a new Games record.
Abingdon squash pro Mark Cairns cruised through his Pool A doubles match with Chris Walker, beating D Tam and M Brunskill (Papua New Guinea) 15-3, 15-6.
On the bowls green, Oxford City and County's Kathy Hawes won twice in the women's pairs.
Partnered by Mary Price, she saw off D Newton and L Tikiosuva (Fiji) 22-13 and B Mulenga Mali and H Kasonde Luipa (Zambia) 23-18.
