Anxious mum Shonagh Farrell is warning youngsters to be on their guard after her son was attacked near a Kidlington primary school.
Her son Calvin, 13, came home in tears to tell his mother that he had been accosted by a man dressed in white clothing and a baseball cap.
The man, who struck just yards from the entrance of Edward Feild School in Bicester Road, grabbed the teenager and tried to pull him off his bike. Calvin managed to escape but the man continued to chased him down the street.
Shonagh, 33, called police who and within ten minutes officers were searched the area but failed to find the mystery attacker.
They are now planning to re-interview Calvin in a bid to obtain a better description of his 6ft tall attacker.
Single mum Shonagh, of Cherwell Avenue, Kidlington, said: "Calvin is a tough lad and he normally doesn't stand for any nonsense but when he came home on Sunday night he was very upset.
"This man ran out of one of the gardens on Bicester Road and tried to pull Calvin off his bike.
"Luckily my son got away. Perhaps this man thought my son was someone else but I want other parents to be on their guard in case he was some sort of pervert." Calvin is a pupil at an Oxford comprehensive school.
Insp Carole Haveron, of Kidlington police, said: "As soon as we received the call notifying us about this incident, we sent officers to search the area. We are clearly concerned and will continue to investigate."
Acting head of Edward Feild School, Charlotte Haynes, said staff were not aware of any other similar incidents in the area and would continue to stay in touch with police.
"Community police in the area do an excellent job of keeping us aware of these type of incidents," she said.
Anyone with information can call police on 0800 555 111.
