Supermarket giant Sainsbury's has promised to tackle problems caused by heavy lorry deliveries.
A row has been rumbling since lorries heading for the Limborough Road trading estate demolished property in Mill Street, Wantage.
Now, following an intervention by retired mechanical engineer Roger Lewis, of Denchworth Road, the company has laid down firm guidelines and routes for its drivers, and will welcome reports of any of its vehicles deviating from these routes.
Between Wednesday and Saturday all deliveries will be made at night, although an early morning delivery at about 6am of perishable goods may be necessary.
Daytime deliveries on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, and any other day of the week if required, will be made by using the A338 Mably Way, Denchworth Road and Mill Street.
Lorries leaving the M4 at Swindon will approach Wantage from the west via the A420 and A417 routes.
Night deliveries will be made through the town as fewer people's sleep should be disturbed.
The action follows an intervention by Roger Lewis, of Denchworth Road, who showed local store manager Bob Upshall the problems caused by the previous routes.
