Portsmouth Res 4, Oxford Utd Res 1 DEFENSIVE errors cost United's Reserves once again after they dominated last night's Avon Insurance Combination game at Fratton Park but crashed to defeat.
In the first minute, Brian Wilsterman's poor back pass resulted in goalkeeper Elliot Jackson giving away a penalty, which Steve Soley netted.
Andrew Rose was then indecisive to a ball played through the middle and Robbie Simpson fired Portsmouth two up.
Danny Hill, who had probably his best game for the club, pulled one back for United, but another error let in Simpson again to make it 3-1 just before the break.
United's French triallist, striker Eric Greulekron, hit the post and the bar and United had three other efforts cleared off the line before Soley wrapped it up.
United Res: Jackson, Remy, Folland, Rose, Wilsterman, Shepheard (Lewis 75), Wright, Hill, Greulekron, S Weatherstone (Wickens 45), Cook. Sub not used: Davies.
