A young nurse who was struck by a taxi after a night out with colleagues, has died in the hospital in which she worked.
The 24-year-old woman, who worked in the accident and emergency department at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, lost her fight for life yesterday, 24 hours after she was knocked down.
She was walking in High Street, Oxford, with a group of friends from work when the accident happened early on Sunday morning.
The nurse, who trained at Oxford Brookes University, had previously worked on the trauma ward in the hospital but had recently started work in the accident and emergency department.
She has not yet been named.
Paramedics who answered the 999 call recognised her as a work colleague when they arrived at the scene of the accident.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident to contact them. They said the nurse was struck by a red Vauxhall Cavalier taxi.
