AN AA man saved the life of a pensioner after seeing his van overturn in a field.

Steven Hanson, an ex-paramedic, was driving towards a Mercedes van when he saw it career off the A418, near Aylesbury Road, Thame, yesterday.

The 72-year-old driver John Canon was thrown through the windscreen. Mr Hanson, from Dunstable, cleared his blocked airway and gave him first aid.

The Long Crendon pensioner was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where his condition last night was stable.
