TOM Pegler, Witney Town's leading scorer last season, could be on his way back to Marriotts Stadium.
Pegler left Witney in the summer to join Dr Martens League Southern Division rivals Newport IoW after moving to Totton near Southampton with his work.
However, he has struggled to make an impact at Newport and now Witney manager Andy Lyne has put in a seven-day approach
"We are optimistic," said Lyne. "It has not really worked out for him there."
Meanwhile, striker Tate Hulbert, returns to Witney's squad for the league game at second-placed Margate tomorrow. Geoff Neville (knee) is the only doubt.
Witney Tn: from Alder, Knight, Martin, Organ, Tavinor, Leach, Ovens, Caffel, Merriman, Bourne, Neville, Wimble, Teggart, Hulbert, Stevens.
Striker Jermaine McSporran, who scored twice for Arsenal Res during his trial at Highbury this week, faces a check on a slight calf strain before Oxford City's home game with Chertsey Town in Ryman League Division 1.
City are now waiting to see if the Gunners will pursue their interest in the 21-year-old forward.
Meanwhile, defender Matty Whitehead is out tomorrow with tonsillitis. Oxford City: from Torres, Smith, Hayward, Wallbridge, Cooper, Ferdinand, Fontaine, Lee, Border, McSporran, McCleary, Concannon, Morrisey, Dark, Potter, Best, Gooderick, Shepherd.
Thame United's hopes of signing's Brackley's Graham Sutcliffe have been dashed with the player turning down the move.
Meanwhile, Thame name an unchanged squad as they bid for their fourth consecutive win in Ryman Division 2 when they entertain struggling Tooting & Mitcham (1pm).
Thame Utd: from Moores, Joe, Gascoyne, Brown, Tregurtha, Paul, Maciak, Greig, Herbert, Louis, Anderson, Walker, Beauchamp, Saulsbury.
Paul Harwood and Cecil Rodney are unavailable for Abingdon Town's trip to Banstead Athletic in Ryman Division 2. There is also a doubt over Mark Tovell.
Abingdon Tn: from Fleet, Didcok, J Price, Douglas, Ferguson, Tighe, Gills, McMahon, McNamara, Holmes, Greenaway. Subs: Jones, Twine, Tovell, Bevan.
WITNEY Town's plum FA Cup tie against Conference big guns Stevenage Borough has been put back 24 hours to Sunday, October 18 (3pm) - as expected.
The third qualifying round clash has been resheduled on police advice because of an animal rights protest against nearby Hillgrove Farm tomorrow week.
Witney are expecting a bumper gate of around 2,000 for the clash with Stevenage expected to bring nearly 1,500 fans.
Tickets are now available with seats £8, and adults standing £5 with under 16s and OAPS £3. There are also 50 hospitality packages of a seat, three-course meal and a programme for £20.
