A busy street was cordoned off after a man started throwing furniture - including a stereo system and chairs - out of an upstairs window.
Police closed Iffley Road in Oxford after a passer-by spotted the flying furniture soon after 6pm yesterday and dialled 999.
Traffic was diverted between Bullingdon Road and Magdalen Road and a paramedic crew was put on standby.
The road was opened 90 minutes later after a 32-year-old man gave himself up to police.
He was being questioned by police today for alleged criminal damage.
A police spokesman said no-one had been hurt in the incident or was in any danger.
