Councillors hope to put aside £100,000 next year to upgrade play areas.
Earlier this year a survey carried out by West Oxfordshire District Council and the Oxfordshire Playing Fields Association found six play areas failed to meet safety standards. Another 14 sites had play equipment which was unacceptable.
West Oxfordshire leisure officer, Matt Prosser, said: "As part of the council's commitment to assist upgrading all play areas to the minimum standard by 2001 we should put the sum of £100,000 into the capital programme for the next two years."
Town and parish councils will be expected to match the cost of any work needed.
Councillor Jonathan Phillips said town and parish councils "must be seen to be carrying out their responsibilities".
