Lucky Oxford Mail competition winners were delivered to the door of the new Chicago Rock Cafe in style last night - in two stretch limos.
Passers-by who spotted the two white Lincolns pull up outside Oxford's newest venue in Park End Street were on the look-out for Richard Branson - or the Spice Girls.
Instead they were greeted by five Oxford Mail competition winners, who correctly answered a question about Chicago Rock Cafe menus.
Our winners were collected at their homes and chauffeur-driven to the door for the new nightspot's VIP opening night.
The limos, which seat ten in perfect luxury, boast those travel essentials - a bar and a TV set.
On arrival the winners were greeted with a glass of champagne from cafe manageress Diane Wright before enjoying a meal.
Mandy Dumighan, 36, of Whitton Close, Greatworth, Banbury, won one of the places in the limos when she read about the competition to attend the VIP opening night on the Mail's website.
The mum-of-three said: "I felt like a film star. My kids are really jealous."
The other winners were Margaret Randall, of Rupert Road, Cowley, Leslie Leach, of Kingsway Drive, Kidlington, Stephanie Blakey, of Woodbridge Close, Aston, Bampton, and Diane Pollard, of Churchill Close, Didcot.
Mrs Pollard's husband John, added: "It was a very comfortable ride. I thoroughly enjoyed it."
More than £2.5m has been spent on the new venue, which is aimed at over-20s and can cater for up to 470 people.
