OXFORD United Reserves put the club's off-the-pitch worries behind them to beat 2-1 Millwall in the Avon Insurance Combination at the Manor last night.
Matt Murphy gave them the perfect start in the fourth minute with a goal following a good run by Jamie Cook.
Two reflex saves by Elliot Jackson from Kim Grant kept Milwall out, but the Londoners eventually equalised with a brilliant 20-yard free kick by Grant on the half hour.
Phil Whelan and Brian Wilsterman were booked in the second half before sub Rob Folland grabbed the winner from Cook's cross 18 minutes from time.
United Res: Jackson, Rose, Marsh, Hill, Wilsterman, Whelan, Banger (Brennan 66), S Weatherstone, Windass, Murphy (Folland 45), Cook. Sub not used: Davies.
