A rare motorcycle, worth £9,500, was stolen after the shop owner had had it for just one day.
The Italian-made Aprilia RSV 1000 was taken from a garage in Danvers Close, Broughton, near Banbury, on Sunday night.
The demonstration model was stolen from the home of Max Motorcycles' managing director David Young, who had taken the machine out on a test run earlier in the day.
He said: "There are only a handful of these on the road in this country.
"I've been testing it out and on Sunday I went for a ride around the Cotswolds. It attracted a lot of attention.
"When I got home to Broughton I locked it in the garage next to the house. But during the night somebody broke in and went straight for it.
"They are very distinctive bikes and a lot of enthusiasts have been waiting for them to come on the market here.
"The thieves must have stolen it to order. They knew exactly what they wanted."
The S-reg bike is silver, blue and red.
Area beat-officer Pc Brian Wallington said: "The garage was broken into and we presume the bike was lifted into a van. There must have been a lot of activity in that area."
