WITH world launches, live motorcycling action and free test rides, this week's International Motor Cycle Show is expected to be Europe's most popular biking show.
More than 190,000 people will visit Birmingham's NEC to see the launches of over 80 new motorcycles and scooters and 700 new motorcycle accessories. The event opens to the public on Saturday and runs until Sunday, November 22.
Carl Fogarty, World Superbike champion will greet fans on Monday, November 16, at a special presentation recognising his title success this year, while British World Trials champion Dougie Lampkin will attempt the largest indoor jump in the world during an Arena Trials display.
Speed freaks have the opportunity to ask land speed record holder Richard Brown what it felt like to ride a rocket-powered motorcycle at over 200mph.
There will be an opportunity to test ride 15 different scooters at a free-to-use "Try-a-Bike" facility. Learner riders will receive free tuition from qualified instructors.
A free RAC breakdown service will be available to all motorcyclists arriving at the show.
Those travelling by bike will be offered free secure parking close to the exhibition halls.
A price freeze for '98 makes the show even better value for money, especially for families - under 11s get in free.
Admission is £12 for adults and £5 for children (11-16) and senior citizens.
"This is the most prestigious show for 15 years," said Irene Yedd show organiser.
