VOLKSWAGEN has unveiled a sports car design study based on the new Beetle. The Beetle RSi, has flared wheelarches, wide sills, a massive front air dam and a large spoiler.
Additional painted areas at the windscreen and rear window make the roof look longer. Power comes from a V6 engine, transmitted through a six-speed gearbox. The interior houses bucket-type seats, covered in red and black leather, with aluminium and carbon fibre used for detail. At the centre of the re-designed instrument panel is the rev counter, which has an integral digital speedometer. Volkswagen says no decision has yet been taken on putting the car into production.
