BRACKLEY Town chairman Clive Lomax is confident that buyers can be found for the debt-ridden club after they decided to go into voluntary liquidation.

The Dr Martens League club, who have debts of £125,000, have called in the London-based firm Rothmans Pantall to handle their affairs.

Aylesbury United had expressed an interest in buying Brackley, but Lomax said they had now dropped out.

However, another as yet unnamed party are in talks with Rothman Pantall.

Lomax said: "There is a meeting of the creditors a week on Friday and the club is up for sale, but we are carrying on as normal."

Striker Jamie Waters has rejoined Witney Town after returning to Britain after completing a sports scholarship in the United States.

The 23-year-old forward, who is currently regaining match fitness at Devizes Town, played for Witney under Gary Ackling in the 1995-96 season.

A former England schoolboy, he has had experience of Conference football with Cheltenham Town. Witney have also signed goalkeeper Ryan Gannaway on loan from Cheltenham ascover for Kevin Alder, who is likely to be unavailable for three matches this month.

Meanwhile, midfielder Terry Merriman and new signing Justin Merritt, from Brackley, come into the squad for the Dr Martens Southern Division clash against Baldock Town at Marriotts Stadium after serving one-match bans.

Oxford City manager Paul Lee was set to hold transfer talks with two players today in a bid to boost his injury-hit squad for the trip to struggling Yeading in Ryman League Division 1.

Matt Hayward is doubtful with bruised ribs, while Ben Cortes-Cano (cartilage), Chris Potter (stress fracture), Julian Dark (back) and Matty Whitehead (thigh) are already sidelined.

Thame United midfielder Neil Greig, who it was initially thought could be out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury, is on the comeback trail and has set his sights on being fit for the FA Vase quarter-final at Woodbrtidge Town on February 20.

Meanwhile, Andy Sinnott's men turn their attention to their promotion bid when they visit Witham in Ryman Division 2. Dave Tregurtha (thigh) and Adie Roberts (groin) remain sidelined.

Abingdon Town take on Marlow in Ryman Division 2 at Culham Road.
