David Foot raped a teenager who he had also indecently assaulted when she was eight years old, a court heard.

Oxford Crown Court heard yesterday (Fri Feb 5) how Foot, of Abbot Road, Didcot, subjected the girl to repeated attacks culminating in her rape when she was 14.

Foot, 52, pleaded guilty to three charges of indecent assault and one of rape on the girl, who cannot be named, between March 18, 1986, and December 31, 1992.

Prosecutor Tony McGeorge told the court how the victim remembered being assaulted by Foot as the two of them sat on the sofa.

Mr McGeorge told the court that the assaults had become a regular occurrence whenever Foot and the girl were alone together.

The final attack came between Jan 1, 1991 and December 31, 1992 when the court heard how Foot had raped the girl on the sofa.

After the rape she immediately ran upstairs and got straight into bed.

About ten minutes later Foot came up to her and apologised for what he had done.

He said he was 'sorry' and it would never happen again, the court was told.

When he was arrested on October 20 last year and interviewed by police, Foot was asked whether it was on his initiative that the assaults and rape had taken place. He replied he thought it was 'joint'.

The court heard how, after the attacks, the girl had undergone a dramatic personality change.

She had even tried to take her own life in 1997.

Foot was remanded in custody until March 15 for psychiatric reports.
