Floral tributes arrived on the doorstep of rugby fan Vivian Rogerson who died after rowing with his neighbour over a parking space.
Police are still anxious to trace witnesses who saw Mr Rogerson when he may have been in an argument at Broadways pub in the town centre on Saturday evening - or who may have witnessed a row outside his terraced home more than half-a-mile away in Lydalls Road at 2am on Sunday.
Mr Rogerson, a single man who is believed to have lived alone, was a popular figure in the town, especially among past and present members of Didcot Rugby Clubfor which he had played until a knee injury forced him to hang up his boots five years ago.
An inquest was due to be opened today after Mr Rogerson, a 37-year-old plasterer, died in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, on Saturday following an incident in Lydalls Road where he was found in the road with serious injuries early Sunday morning.
His girlfriend Sarah is believed to have been at his hospital bedside when he died.
A 28-year-old Didcot man was arrested and released without being charged was on bail until April when police say they want to interview him again.
