Discos are not usually seen as a hotbed of political activity, but a nightclub this weekend aims to encourage just that.
The Zodiac nightclub, in Cowley Road, Oxford, will play host to a launch party for the Oxford Youth Council - a new initiative aimed at getting young people involved in local democracy.
The event on Saturday night, which includes a set from trendy Oxford band My Friend Jim, will be free to 12 to 17-year-olds.
But rather than just dancing the night away, teenagers will be encouraged to sign-up for a role in local politics.
The party has been organised by Oxford City Council, which is also holding discussion workshops and a simulated youth council during the day.
Alan Brown, events organiser for the council, said: "We wanted the launch of the Youth Council to feature something attractive to young people and put them in an environment where they feel comfortable."
