Police were called after an Oxford University student was found hanged at his hall of residence.
Anton Tchetvertakov, 22, was found hanged at a house in South Parade on Friday. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
Mr Tchetvertakov is understood to have been a fourth-year chemistry student at St Anne's College in Woodstock Road.
College principal Ruth Deech said: "Anton was a very gifted and hard-working student who had many friends in the college and across the University. We are all deeply shocked."
An Oxford University spokesman: "He had been seen out with a group of friends the night before and at this stage, there is no obvious reason why this happened.
