RUGBY League in Oxford has received a major boost with the appointment of a regional development officer for the sport based in the city, writes RUSSELL SMITH.
Caro Wild, 22, a graduate of Luton University who comes from Leeds, has been given the job of encouraging the sport's growth in the area.
The appointment was launched at Oxford Town Hall yesterday, and Wild said: "I am very excited at being given the opportunity to establish Oxford as a rugby league-playing city.
"I hope that my great enthusiasm for the sport will rub off on people in the city, and I am already working very closely with the city council's sports development unit."
Wild's post has been created by the Rugby League and the British Amateur Rugby League Association in conjunction with the English Sports Council and Oxford City Council.
