Pregnant Kelly Doyle has revealed she is to wed her sweetheart - two months after stabbing him.

Mario Lambert was admitted to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital with four neck and back wounds after a late-night row erupted into violence. But now the young couple have rediscovered romance and plan to marry in the autumn.

By then, Mario and Kelly, of Naldertown, Wantage, should also be proud parents of a two-month-old baby.

The couple are reluctant to re-live memories of the January 10 incident. Mario, 22, an out-of-work Tarmac-layer, said: "We're both very sad it happened, but friends and family have been very supportive. "We'd stopped seeing each other for about a month by then. But I decided not to press charges because I loved her, and I knew the baby was on the way."

Mario was admitted to the JR with four stab wounds to his neck and back after confronting Kelly at a house in Mably Way, Grove.

Kelly, 20, who was already pregnant, was arrested and later released on bail. But Mario, whose injuries were not life-threatening, declined to press charges and the police decided to take no action. Now the wedding is booked at Wantage Methodist Church on September 18, followed by a family reception at the Bear Hotel in the Market Place.

Later, the couple will host a disco for friends at the Old Mill Hall in Grove.
