A parachutist who crashed into the roof of a football stadium has had his leg amputated.
Flt Sgt Nigel Rogoff, of Stonesfield, near Witney, was descending on the Villa Park football ground, Birmingham, dressed as Father Christmas during a half-time show in December when he crashed into the Trinity Road stand.
Flt Sgt Rogoff, who is part of the RAF Hawks team based at Weston-on-the-Green, fell 100ft to the pitch in front of 40,000 fans and millions of television viewers. A veteran of almost 6,000 jumps, he suffered two broken legs, a fractured pelvis and broken ribs. His left leg was amputated just above the knee.
Birmingham City Hospital press officer Julie Phelan said: "He was discharged early last week. We have done as much as we can for him here.
"He is medically fit but needs some rehabilitation to get him moving again."
Flt Sgt Rogoff is believed to be spending time recovering with relatives. A neighbour, who preferred not to be named, said: "It's good to hear he is getting better. We've all been worried about him."
