OXFORD'S Steve Mullins is the new Western Counties middleweight boxing champion and is through to the ABA quarter-finals after a brilliant display against Paul Brown, of Saxon ABC (Plymouth), in Exmouth.
Boxing for the Penhill RBL club from Swindon, Mullins took control from the start and never relin- quished it over four round as he ran out a unanimous winner 80-75, 80-75, 78-78.
He now goes on to box against the Combined Services at Salisbury on March 27.
Steve's brother Pete, a light middleweight, lost on points to Poole's Mark Plunkett, who used his extra height and reach to good advantage.
