Citroen 2CV enthusiast David Wilkinson is all revved up about the history of his rare car.
Mr Wilkinson bought the Citroen car to restore and wants to trace the owners who lived in Oxford in the early 1970s.
He said: "It is a labour of love. It is one of only three in existence. It will cost £2,000 to restore but I am not doing it to sell it. I will only drive it on sunny days and to 2CV rallies.
"It would be interesting to trace the history, as it spent most of its life in the Oxford area." The car was left to a Barton woman by her French uncle who often used it to drive to Britain in the early 1970s. All Mr Wilkinson knows about her is that her husband's name was Eric Smith.
The car was later sold to a Pete Woodman, in Banbury, in 1974.
The right-hand drive model was made in Belgium for the Swedish market - and still has its original dark red paintwork. Mr Wilkinson, of Grange-over-Sands, in Cumbria, added: "The car is in a bit of a state at the moment.
"I had to take it up to Cumbria on a trailer. I hope to have it restored by the end of the year. "The car is a bit of an oddball. I am particularly interested in what it was doing around 1973 to 74 and would love to get in contact with Mrs Smith."
