BUILDING site manager Judith Plummer is a key player in a drive to boost the building industry in Oxfordshire.
Mrs Plummer, 33, who is managing a £4m London building project for Oxford builders Hinkins and Frewin, will be speaking at an event at the Exeter Hall, Kidlington, next Wednesday.
The event, being held by the Oxfordshire Construction Training Group and the Construction Industry Training Board, aims to promote apprenticeships.
She said: "Building is not just a job for the boys. The construction industry has become more skilled and technologically advanced and there are many opportunities for women as well as men."
She said: "I started as a trainee in the planning department of a building company after getting a degree in English and then went on to train as a site manager.
"When you are at school people equate the construction industry with trades people. However, I can assure you there is a lot more to it. Running a multi-million pound site is like running your own business."
