A bogus policeman tried to indecently assault a 19-year-old woman.
The woman left a telephone box in Holm Square, in the Southwold district of Bicester, at about 7.30pm on Thursday, and was approached by a man who claimed to be a policeman. He said he wanted to search her.
He went through her pockets and then said he wanted to do a more intimate search.
When woman refused. When said she would go to the police station, the man left. Insp David Whitaker, of Bicester police, said: "This is a serious matter. The young lady was physically unharmed but was naturally very upset and shaken by the incident."
Police are interested in hearing from anyone who may have had a similar experience.
The man was white, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in tall with short brown hair.
Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
