A man was dragged behind a wall, kicked and robbed of £150.
The man was walking in South Bar, in Banbury, between 3pm and 3.30pm yesterday when he was approached by two men in their early twenties.
He was dragged to the ground behind a low wall and kicked repeatedly by the first man while the other went through his pockets and stole the cash.
They ran off towards Oxford Road.
The victim, from Banbury, was treated at the Horton Hospital for his injuries.
Sgt Steve Convey said: "This was a vicious attack carried out in broad daylight and by a busy road."
The attackers were both white and wearing fleece type jackets.
The first was more than 6ft tall, had short fair hair and was wearing jeans and white trainers.
The second man was shorter with cropped dark hair and was wearing black jeans and white trainers.
