A worried mum fears for her daughter's safety after she was repeatedly harassed by the same man begging for money.
Mum Melanie Green, of Sellwood Road, Abingdon, said she feared for her 20-year-old daughter Annabel's safety after the same man approached her for money at Gloucester Green Bus Station for several weeks.
He did not attack her, but the incidents left her shocked and upset.
Mrs Green said: "We were first approached by him at the bus station. The next time it was at Worcester Street car park." On one occasion a different beggar hurled abuse at the family and even threatened violence.
Mrs Green said: "He asked for money to get to the night shelter.
"My husband said 'no'. We got a torrent of abuse. He kept shouting what he was going to do to my husband."
Mrs Green has demanded action from Thames Valley Police, the City Council and the bus companies, who say a crime and disorder strategy is being put together. The city council said 14 CCTV cameras are to be in place around the City Centre in a new strategy being launched on May 17. New cameras are to be placed in Cornmarket, Queen Street, High Street, St Aldate's, Broad Street and George Street.
Pamela Reilly, crime strategy co-ordinator for Oxford City Council, said: "We are taking action in joint initiatives with the police and voluntary sector.
"We have had a problem recently with rough sleepers in car parks. Over the last two weeks we have cracked down on it."
