Thame United 2, Wokingham Town 1 A LAST minute winner from skipper Martin Brown sparked off scenes of wild celebration last night as Thame secured promotion to Ryman League Division 1.
Visitors Wokingham came intent on spoiling the party as they battled for every ball.
An opening goal from Dave Tregurtha in the 25th minute set Thame on their way. Tregurtha met Neil Greig's corner to head low past keeper Nathan Freeman.
Wokingham were soon level when Tony Wood stabbed home from close range in the 28th minute.
Thame piled on the pressure after the break but were continually frustrated by poor finishing and good goalkeeping from Freeman.
Then with time running out and the nerves jangling, up came Brown to head home Denis Gascoyne's corner from close range and secure the points and set the celebrations in motion.
