CARTERTON Town keeper Steve Mayhew will be looking to sign off in style when he ends 23 years of non-League service tonight.

Town take on Oxford City in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup final at the Manor and the former Thame shot-stopper is keen to keep a clean sheet.

And now that the Hellenic League title is almost beyond them, Carterton, who field ex-City players Jon Muttock and Lee Sharkey, will see this match as a last chance to collect some silverware.

They are very much the underdogs against their Ryman Division 1 opponents, but manager Derek Beesley has a full-strength squad to choose from - bar Darren Teggart, who is cup-tied.

Carterton will be out to avenge a heartbreaking defeat on penalties in the 1997 final against City, who suffered the same fate against Witney last season.

Lee has done his homework on Carterton and said: "We will be giving Carterton as much respect as they deserve. I am looking forward to it."

City have several key players missing. Garry Smart and Mark Jones are ineligible, while Matty Hayward (knee) and Chris Potter (foot) are both injured and Stewart McLeary is suspended. That has made way for teenage strikers Matty Gooderick and Anthony Wise, who have netted 50 goals in the reserves between them this season.

There will be a result tonight as extra-time and then penalties could decide it.

Carterton: from Mayhew, Dore, Forster, Sharkey, Muttock, Hutt, Hayter, Griffin, Henry, Rodney, Wilkinson, Kilfoyle, Walsh, Tyrell, Cook, Smales, Hicks.
