Lucky Jamie Mold has been chosen to meet the Queen when she visits Oxford - adding yet another chapter to his family's long history with University College.
The freckle-faced seven-year-old will hand over a bouquet of flowers when the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visit the college on Friday, May 21.
Jamie, of Hamble Drive, Abingdon, said: "I'm a bit nervous about it but I'm told she's a nice lady.
"I expect she will ask me about what I like to do and I'll tell her about playing for Radley Boys at football and enjoying swimming."
Jamie's family has worked for the college for three generations. His mum, Sue, and father, Steven, fell in love while working at the college. Steven is still a carpenter and joiner for the college while Sue works part-time in the kitchens.
Steven's father, Ted Mold, was bursary clerk then treasurer from 1959 to 1985, and his grandfather, Bill Beesley, worked there for 30 years.
Steven said Jamie, a pupil at Rush Common School, would be upholding a proud tradition.
"He's only young but I'm sure he'll do well, although he was nervous at first about the prospect of meeting Her Majesty," he said.
