BRITAIN'S favourite twist-and-go scooters are set to become even more popular with the launch of two new models from market-leading Peugeot.
The new X-TEAM is the latest multi-coloured variant of the UK's top-selling 50cc Speedfight scooter - elected Motor Cycle News Scooter of the Year in 1997.
Powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled two-stroke engine with fully automatic variable ratio transmission, the X-TEAM's striking red, white and blue colour scheme is anticipated to fire the imagination of youngsters.
Other special features include a red instrument facia and red rear-view mirror pods. It is also equipped as standard with the industry-leading anti-theft package; an ignition immobiliser and the famous integral boa lock.
Also joining the range is the Prost version of the Speedfight 100, Britain's top-selling scooter.
Like the 50cc Prost launched last summer, the new 100 is similarly finished in the Pulsar Blue of Alain Prost's Peugeot Formula One team, with decals to match.
The on-the-road prices, which include insurance, is around £1,900 for the X-TEAM and £2,100 for the Prost 100.
Peugeot mopeds currently enjoy over 20 per cent of the market, which as a whole continues its rapid expansion, rising 76 per cent in the first three months of 1999.
