IT'S official - Angie Harriott, pictured above, is the fastest goalscorer in the world, writes JON MURRAY.
The 32-year-old Launton Ladies striker has earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for her remarkable goal after just seven seconds in her team's 12-0 win over Thame United Ladies in the Southern League Premier Division back on February 21.
Researchers at Guinness found it was the quickest goal in women's football anywhere on this planet.
They have sent Angie, Launton's 20-goal top scorer last season, a special certificate and will be recording her achievement in the next issue of the book.
"The remarkable thing about the goal," said Launton Ladies manager Andrew Keys, was that we didn't even kick off! Thame kicked off, went to play it back to the keeper, Angela intercepted, took it past two defenders and shot into the top corner."
"I'm chuffed to bits," said Angie, who works at Bicester Job Centre. "I knew it stood a chance of going in the book but it's been a long time coming.
"I just intercepted a backpass and put it past the keeper, it happened as quickly as it's taken me to say it. It took me by surprise."
