THE London Motor Show will be offering a vision of the future. And Daewoo is giving a European debut to the Mirae (pronounced Mi-Ray, and meaning 'future' in Korean).
Mirae is a projection of how a new model might look in 2010, combining the driving fun of a sports car with the practicality of an MPV. Seating can be arranged for two adults going skiing or surf-boarding, or to cater for a family of five.
Meanwhile, Daihatsu is unveiling new concept cars which it says point to the future for the Japanese compact car specialists.
The NCX-2 is a compact vehicle, seating six people in three rows of seats, in what Daihatsu calls a multi-purpose semi-cab design.
It is powered by a new 1.3-litre, 16-valve engine which is mounted between the axle lines under the floor, and inclined at 67 degrees.
Another car at the show is the Sirion 2CD, which is powered by a new concept 1.0-litre, two-stroke, direct injection diesel engine. And one of the soon-to-be-launched images of the future is the Renault Avantime, a luxurious grand tourer. Renault plans to launch its extraordinary Avantime as a road-going car by the end of next year.
