OXFORD United could find out today whether or not they have negotiated the latest hurdle in their attempt to restart work on their new stadium.
Speaking at last night's annual general meeting, club owner Firoz Kassam said he expected to be told "at any moment" if a judicial review is to be called into the decision by Oxford City Council and Environment Secretary John Prescott to allow a multi-screen cinema to be built at Minchery Farm.
The review is being sought by developer Pentith Ltd, which had its plans for a multiplex, casino and restaurants next to Oxford Ice Rink thrown out by the Government and by British Railways Board, the owners of 80-90 per cent of the land on which the complex was to have been built.
Kassam said last night: "I understand that the judge was making his decision over the weekend, and we were expecting some response today (Monday). But as of later on this afternoon we had not heard anything. It's a matter of days, I guess, rather than weeks."
