Dozens of students from Burford College attended the funeral of teenager Christopher Couch.
Christopher, 18, died when a Fiat car in which he was a passenger left the road and hit a tree in Northwood Crescent, Carterton.
He lived at Scholars Close in the town and was a sixth former at Burford College where he was studying art and design.
A public address system was set up at St Joseph's Church, Carterton, for the funeral on Friday.
Priest Father Vincent Leo Armishall said: "The church was packed and there must have been 50 or 60 more outside.
"The head of the college, Patrick Saunders, spoke - as did three of Christopher's friends. They did it very well."
Christopher died just half a mile from his home in an accident not thought to have involved any other vehicle.
The teenage driver of the car, who has not been named, was treated at the scene for injuries.
Earlier this year Christopher won a Sports and Arts Achievement award from West Oxfordshire District Council under a scheme to recognise local talent.
