The wife of a man convicted of downloading child pornography from the Internet said she has no regrets about telling the police of his behaviour.

Lisa Lindsay, 31, discovered her husband Marc's secret after finding a notebook with a website address written inside. The site featured young girls in pornographic poses.

Mrs Lindsay told the Oxford Mail: "I first had my suspicions four years ago when some glossy pornographic magazines arrived in the post.

"He denied any knowledge but as we began to drift apart, he spent more and more time on the computer. "I wanted to know exactly what he was doing so I played along, pretending I was interested.

"The longer he used the Internet, the younger the children seemed to get.

"It made me cry. He left me with no option but to call the police."

Marc Lindsay, who pleaded guilty to five charges of possessing indecent computer images of children and one of distributing indecent photographs, was ordered to register as a sex offender and put on probation for three years by Bicester magistrates earlier this month. He was also told to attend the Thames Valley centre for sex offenders.

She said: "I don't feel I know him any more. He knows what he did was wrong and I just hope he can get on with his life."

Lindsay blamed the break-up of his marriage for the depression which made him download the pictures. Until recently he was living under the same roof as his wife and her new partner, taxi driver Nigel Taverner.

Mrs Lindsay and Mr Taverner now live together in Springfield Road, Caversfield, near Bicester, with Lindsay's children.
