A town-twinning committee has been saved after members elected a new chairman.
It was feared the committee, which fosters close links with Oxford's twin city Bonn, in Germany, might be disbanded when the chairman resigned.
Harold Williams, 64, of Acremead, Wheatley, was chairman of the committee for 25 years.
He has now handed over to committee secretary Mike East, who has been involved in the link for 27 years.
Mr Williams, who is moving to Wales, said: "It is with much sadness that I have decided to retire from office.
"I have derived so much pleasure from my involvement in the organisation of the link and through that have made so many friendships here and in Bonn.
"The committee will be in good hands with Mike."
Mr East, who lives in Brackley, said: "I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue the good work that Harold has been doing."
