The Oxford Millennium Party has been included in a list of The Biggest and Best Millennium Bashes.
The Sunday Times's list of Britain's top 22 events included those at the Dorchester Hotel and the Ministry of Sound, both in London, the official Millennium Dome Celebrations and Hogmanay in Edinburgh.
The Oxford Millennium Party is being held in a marquee at Oxford Rugby Club, north Hinksey, and will include music from Abba tribute band Bjorn Again.
Residents in North Hinksey Lane where the giant party is being held have said they are happy for the £195-a-head bash to go ahead, even though they can't afford to go themselves.
Mr Leonard Blackwell, 72, of north Hinksey, said in September that he was glad the party was going ahead.
Ms Joanna Cooper, 22, added: "I won't go for that price, but I would go if they gave us free tickets. We are not worried about the noise."
Ken Paul, managing director of the Oxford Millennium Party, said: "We are delighted that the Oxford Millennium Party has been recognised as one of Britain's best bashes. "To be included in the list shows us that Oxford is up there as one of the top places to be on Millennium night.
"I am proud that the hard work of our team in putting this event together has been rewarded by this recognition."
