Going off at 7-1, the blue dog tracked all-the-way leader Ineedabreak, finally getting up on the line to win by a short head.
There was no fairy tale treble triumph for Hove trainer Brian Clemenson. Alfies Cool, a Pall Mall and Gold Cup winner at Oxford this year, missed the break and was never in the hunt.
