AUDI is to make modifications to the TT Coupe quattro after some German owners complained about its high-speed handling.
A company spokesman said a number of owners called into question the handling characteristics of their vehicles in "certain situations at speeds substantially in excess of legal speed limits in the UK."
The consensus of opinion has prompted Audi to make changes which affect both the car's suspension and its aerodynamic performance.
Modified anti-roll bars are to be fitted front and rear, and will be combined with revised front suspension wishbones and firmer damper settings. In addition to these suspension modifications the TT will also receive a rear spoiler.
The modified components will be fitted to production vehicles from December, and will be available for retro-fitting to existing cars in the UK from the beginning of the year 2000. As soon as parts are available customers will be contacted and asked to return their cars to their local Audi Centre where the work will be carried out free of charge.
Audi said the process will take place in two phases, the suspension alterations being followed at a later date by the retro-fitting of the spoiler.
